So I was laid off in May and have been working a part time job the last few months. The hours have been getting worse and worse and I've been applying to any and all places that can pay enough for me to survive. (I live in a major city and have some debts so I should be making $26 an hour but I'm okay with making $22 and just scraping by until I can find another job in my career path)
My friend hooked me up with a possible interview at his job. It's a easy social media editing gig but it only pays $20 an hour. I asked if I was able to negotiate my rate and he said probably not since the job is easy and they just sorta told him his rate. I guess he didn't really have a chance to negotiate (although I know he's younger and has very little work experience so maybe he didn't try, idk)
Now a full time job that pays $20 is incredible right now, and I'm not trying to look a gift horse in the mouth, but I know I won't have enough to may everything off with $20. The hours also suck since it's 12pm - 9pm so finding a side job will also be hard.
Should I try to negotiate to $22-23 or just shut up and take it?
