I have been going to the same dentist for my entire life, but recently decided I wanted to change up my dentist since my old dentist consistently hurt my teeth (not sensitivity, she was just really rough). My teeth cleaning exams were always 100% covered under my insurance with her.
I found a new dentist and booked an appointment for this week. Beforehand, I triple checked with my insurance company (Delta Premier) and learned that basic cleanings are actually only 80% covered for me, and that I need to pay 20% co-pay. I then realized that my old doctor just waived the 20% because apparently it depends on the practice?
So, I called the new dentist's office after booking to double check insurance with them, and the receptionist specifically was like "it's 100% covered". I told her that I double checked my plan and that it's actually 80%, but then she reaffirmed, "no, Delta Premier basic cleanings is always 100% covered". She sounded very certain, but I'm positive that my specific plan actually covers 80%.
What are the chances that I'll walk into my appointment tomorrow and they'll tell me that they made a mistake and that I have to cover 20% anyways? This office is pretty expensive and there are other offices I'd rather go to and pay 20%, but they have a cancellation fee and it's already too late to cancel now. Would I even have the option of telling them that, no, I literally went out of my way to call you guys and ensure that it's fully covered, and either cancel for free or get it waived?
