I am in a high energy cost state in the U.S. Been tracking our energy bill closely recently, which is 2-3 higher than normal due to more of us being at home more often. I went on a spree last week, and cleaned the refrigerator coils with an appliance brush and shop vac, turned the fridge and water heater down by two notches (no difference noticed by the three of us using hot water), programmed the Nest thermostat to reduce temperature of heat, and cleaned out the dryer vent. Energy and gas usage down significantly in the day view. Also, some of these things will help with the longevity of my big appliances. Highly recommend spending a few hours doing these things! I’ve also been waiting till whatever (dishwasher, washer) was at 100 percent capacity rather than running it at 70-80 percent full Bc it was convenient. Any other ideas for minor things like this?
