I'm an adult who never got a license. Would I get a car insurance discount if I took the driver's education course teenagers need?

California. Should I take the online lessons before the theory test or only the driving lessons after the learner's permit? I called a few insurance companies and they said I wouldn't get a discount, but I heard otherwise from anecdotes. Help me out.
