I bought Air India Airline ticket through a travel agent website indianeagle.com. I cancelled the ticket prior to my travel and I was told over the phone that the full amount will be refunded. But they did not refund the full amount and refunded me $350 less. Please note that my credit card was directly charged by Air India and not through the booking website.
I called the booking website again but then they told me that its the mandatory fees by Airline and they have to charge it. This was different then what I was told on my first phone call. I think this is because the first person I talked to on phone just didn't provide me accurate information.
Anyway, so I opened the dispute case through my credit card. I got a call from the booking website that I need to withdraw the dispute case within a day (their deadline to provide documents back to credit card company) otherwise they will sue me in Austin, Texas court for $350 and once they sue I will be responsible for much more fees on top of $350.
I am trying to figure out if this is an empty threat or can they really sue me for much more than $350? I think that its not fair to me to be charging $350 without telling me about it. So I want to continue dispute for the principals. But at the same time, i dont want to get involved in complicated lawsuits in different state and be responsible for a much higher amount.
