I got hit head-on by a distracted driver in 2019 at highway speeds. I should've died.
I was taken to the emergency room at a local hospital. They requested my insurance information within 90 days. I called them and provided it within 90 days.
The hospital sent my $100 copay "debt" out for collection anyways. (My insurance, which I provided, specifically covered this copay.)
Fast forward to now. Debt collection agency tells me they're here to collect a $100 debt. I told them this is not a valid debt.
Debt collector went to the credit agencies and filed a derogatory report. My score dropped 40 points overnight.
What should I do?
