I would like to buy a car that would last me long term.
I have few requirements - must be 4 seater with 4 doors - short as possible - hatchback (more trunk space)
The preferred is - as few non essential parts as possible. With newer cars the major reason for big repair bills is the electronics
Currently I have 1998 Subaru outback. I love it. I would love to have something similar size and length. The new Subaru outback and Forrester seem to be much bigger. How do I find similar?
For long term how do I calculate what would be my gas expenditure with Electric? Hybrid? Gas?
For dependability, is it better to buy a car in an urban area, rural, suburban?
How far should I be willing to travel for the new car? How can I make sure it would be worth the trip (if I have to spend $300 to fly out to a place i don't know how can I make sure I'm getting a good deal without physically seeing the car)
Are there any places I can see cars by length (includes cars of different years same model). Any other tips?
