I worked for a company in WA state for about a year. From July 2016 through Dec 2016 I was on contract. From January to July 2017 I was an employee. My salary was at $60k/year.

I just received a 1099 claiming I only collected $1600 in 2016, instead of a W2 for the amount I had actually made. How will this hurt me? How can I fix it?

Other notes: Employer changed my withholding amounts at some point without telling me and freaked out on the accountant when he fixed it.

Employer hid my salary from his partner, and consistently cooked the books and audits to cover the expenditures from his partner (like a new dirt bike, $800 office chair, Space mouse for CAD he didn't know how to use, etc).

Employer framed two accountants for embezzlement, settled both times when the accountants called for a third party audit.

They have bragged in the past about hiring day laborers to annoy employees that they wanted to fire to make the employee quit due to the harassment so that the company wouldn't be liable for unemployment.

Other former employees have told me that calling to ask for the correct tax documentation will be met with extreme hostility.

Thanks in advance!
