I hear a lot people just complain about broken products that are still clearly under warranty or just trash the thing and buy another.
Warranties are a little easier to use than they used to be with submitting receipts and photos via email. you rarely have to even call them anymore, it's all online chats or email back and forth.
I had a backpack's snap break off, and the company handled it smoothly. I submitted a warranty request on their website, they sent instructions on how to proceed (photos of the defect, pdf of receipt from amazon), authorized it, and gave options on how to handle the issue.
they'd either pay for the fix at a local shop, or you could send it in, or you could write in marker the return defect code they sent, clip the labels off, and send them pictures. I did the 3rd option, and they promptly sent a gift card code for their site for the price + tax for a replacement. So nothing out of my pocket and a brand new backpack is on the way.
just develop a system for proof of purchases. keep a folder for paper receipts, or just snap a picture and trash them. online purchases are easy to print to pdf as needed.
