This is for my sister. She is having a hard time with trying to rectify this problem and has asked me to go down to the office and confront the guy. She worked for a shady character at a call center. It was an on and off kind of thing over the past 5 years. This guy is known to hire people that are in a tough position and then take advantage of them. My sister is now in recovery and has been doing well for 10 months or so and trying to take care of her financials. She realized that not only did he report that she 40k dollars, but he even reported that she made 20k in 2018, when she hadn't worked a single day.
She was told by the IRS that trying to work it out with him and have him change it on his end would be the best route.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should be saying to him? or anything else she should be doing in the meantime?
tldr: Sister's old scumbag boss lied and reported that she made 40k more than she actually made on her 1099. Going to confront him tmrw. Any advice?
