I have had to move a light switch and a power point as part of some small renovations. I'm basically reducing the length of a wall between two rooms to open it up. The best place for these switches to go, for access reasons, is the edge of the shortened wall. The stud isn't load bearing, it's only holding up the plaster I am putting on it. You can see I've currently just drilled into it a hole large enough to take the back of the switch and the cables, but I worry about this as afire hazard. What should I do in this instance? Cut enough of the stud out to fit a box?Electricity here is 230/240 volts. Thanks in advance![Edit] + photo via /r/DIY http://bit.ly/2TnRFpY
