I want to mount my TV over my fireplace (that I never use) but there’s only one stud behind it.The TV is 55”, 40lbs.I have a wall mount rated to 100 lbs, it weighs 15 lb for a combined TV+mount weight of 55 lb.The mantle recessed area is 47.5”x31”x3.5” with a 5”-wide vertical stud(s) running down the middle of it.The placing of the holes on the mount would allow me to put only two screws into the wood. The question is: Can I use drywall toggles rated up to 100 lbs (up to 4 of them) in the other holes on the mount to support the tv? Everything I can find online says don’t use drywall toggles to mount the TV, but none of them seem to address it as an addition to having two screws in the wood.If not, are there any other relatively non-invasive solutions that anybody can suggest? I’m renting (but allowed to make small holes if I fix them), and the drill and stud finder are already pushing the limits of my skills. via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2L2orKm
