My mother in law is in her 60's , has eye sight trouble , kidney and heart problems . Is getting a kidney soon form my SO. We are running into issues though. She has no savings only a multi family home she rents 2 Apts . This rent money does not even cover her mortgage . Though for some reason this "income" makes her not eligible for aid. She apparently did not work enough to get SS.
As my SO an i are paying a chunk of her bills anyway , we are in the process of transferring the house into my So's name . Once this happens and she has no property or income . What are some services we could look into to help her survive. We are happy to help but its quickly draining us of all our savings . Selling isn't an option either as it is an upside down mortgage. It is cheaper for us to keep this house then it would be to rent her an Apt. We don't have space for her at our home as we already have taken in my mother.
Any help would be great . Someone mentioned food stamps . We are trying to get her on Medicaid. Are there any services in place to help a woman in her position?Medical debt has left her penny-less.
