So this is something that I noticed with a buddy of mine who is as frugal with his spending as I am.

Every now and then we will go out to eat for lunch/dinner. It's something we don't do often, but when we do, he is very stingy with his tips and generally throws them a couple of bucks (that I'm expected to match) regardless of the bill.

I work at a restaurant on Friday and Saturday nights, and getting cruddy tips is a real morale killer. It's so much easier to make someone's day/night if you leave them a surprisingly large tip, regardless of the bill! Today, we went to a small Mexican-themed place for lunch and the bill was only like $24 between the two of us. He only wanted to leave 3 bucks, so I just tipped the full $24. I figured it would make the High School girl's day when she looked at the bill.

Plus, if I force myself to be a really good tipper despite my frugality, it incentivizes me to not go out to eat all that often and save money by eating at home.

This is just something I see from time to time with my frugal mates. Frugal doesn't mean cheap! Tip well. That is all.
