Using one of those "find unclaimed money" websites from my state, I learned that my deceased mother owned 100 shares of stock in a company that no longer exists. It didn't go out of business, but it was bought by another company, then that company merged with another company.
Does that mean that I have 100 shares in that final company? Is there any way to figure out the value of what I am owed?
I understand that I would have to produce a lot of documentation, including the death certificate, etc., so it would be nice to know what the value is before starting the process.
Thanks in advance for your advice.
