***sorry I butchered the title. Rage typing.
To keep it short and sweet, I need advice here.
I have been at my job for a little over a year now. It’s okay, I like who I work with and I wanted to work here a few more years to build my resume. I work as a digital marketing specialist and I work in a room with the other specialist and two “assistants”. These assistants are considered below us, they do not have the same workload and they are sitting around on their phones most of the time or online shopping. My coworker and I are constantly busy and stressed and our job requires a lot more work and knowledge of products.
Well, the new hire who got here about two months ago let it slip how much she makes. She is fresh out of college as of December, I have been graduated for 4 years and this is my second serious full time job. She’s making a solid $3 more an hour than I am. I texted the person who used to work in the position that I did who recently left (leaving me with more workload) and she made $4 more an hour than me.
I am SO angry right now. At myself, for being so blind to all of this, at my bosses who made me feel like my wage was fair, just everything. I am always stressed about money and how I’m not making enough to be comfortable.
My yearly review was a few weeks ago (of COURSE) and I got a whole $.40 raise that they convinced me was “amazing”!!! Typical sales people.
What do I do? My direct boss is pretty awesome, the boss above her is kind of a jerk but is fake nice to all of us. I want to talk to her about this because I want to keep this job but the fact that this is engraved in my head is leaving a bad taste in my mouth and I don’t even want to show up tomorrow honestly. Is there any way I can talk my way into a raise after just getting a measly one a few weeks ago?
More details adding as I think of them: *This job is high turnover. Most people only last 6-8 months. The sales people we work under are pretty brutal a lot of the time.
