I'd like to make a lightweight and portable felt-covered panel that can be placed on any table for gaming. In practice, I'm looking to make 2 identical panels about 5' by 1.5' (long and narrow to easily carry under-arm) that can be set next to each other for a 3'x5' gaming surface.Felt+foam will be glued to the rigid panel, wrapped around the edges, and stapled. Underside will be covered in a grippy rubber sheet. The three 'outside' edges of each panel will be lined with U-shaped edge trim.I'd like to keep these as lightweight as possible. I'm considering underlayment plywood from Home Depot, such as this. However, I'm worried about warping over time (or just getting a warped panel to start with).Questions for you experienced DIYers...Should I even be that worried about hardwood plywood warping? Are there any simple changes or additions to the design that will prevent warping/increase strength without significantly increasing weight (or cost)? Are there any other materials I should consider (that won't break the bank)? Thanks gang! via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2AMIoy8
