Let's say I want to build a house comprised of a 2000 sq.ft. basement, a 2000 sq.ft. main floor, and a 2000 sq.ft. second floor. I am wondering how much money I might save if I were to build 3 rectangles on top of one another, compared to more complex shapes. My understanding is that building simple rectangles requires less material and labor and can lead to reductions in costs, but I have no idea how much saving is involved and if it is "worth" trying to build in a rectangle.Rectangle would be something like this: http://ift.tt/2gWsABV "complex" would be something like: http://ift.tt/2zpJqQb the content of the floorplans, these are just examples of shapes. As you can see I don't mean something very complex like concave walls or anything, just more corners. So how much would I be saving building a rectangular house? Assuming the same rough size etc. You can tell me in straight up dollars, in percent, or $ per square foot, whatever you like! It might be hard to guess, I know, but a rough ballpark would be helpful! via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2hUswSJ
