My sister received a call from the IRS and they threatened to call the police on her and send her to jail for 2 months because she had forgot to fill out a tax form from her last year of schooling or something, I really don't know much of the details. Basically they scared her by threatening to call the police, they told her to look up their phone number and when she googled it, it showed that the phone number belonged to the FBI or something. They also gave them "their" address, which was the real address to the IRS and told her to go there but not go in b/c the FBI were like watching her or something, I have no idea.
Anyways what ended up happening is they convinced her to buy 5 different $2000 apple gift cards. 1 with her credit card, and 4 with her and she read the code off for them. I have no idea how she fell for this honestly and I'm still just like in awe because it seems so obvious but I guess what it all boils down to is they scared the shit out of her and she didn't think correctly. They also told her she could not talk on the phone with anyone/text anyone because it was confidential and so it wouldn't show up on her 'record' or something. So my family and her friends were blowing up her phone but she just ignored all of us and followed their orders.
I'm pretty sure the money is just gone now but does anyone have experience dealing with this? Also looking for advice to be supportive because I don't want to make her feel bad about it but like holy shit I feel like it was so obvious and I can't believe she fell for it.
