My girlfriend (almost 24 years old) just got approved for a new credit card last night. This morning, she gets a text from her mother mentioning that she saw that my GF has signed up for a new CC. How?

We're doing our best to make all of my gf's financial affairs her own (rather than her parents', as her parents still try to control every financial aspect of her life). What can we do to make sure her parents are no longer connected to her credit/have access to this info?

Thanks in advance for any help.

EDIT - it turns out her mother sent her a screenshot from LifeLock notifying of the new account. So now that we have it narrowed down to LifeLock, is there any way to prevent them from having access? Does this mean they have signed up using her SSN/info, so she wouldn't be able to create a LifeLock account since her SSN already has an account?

EDIT2 - It seems like our best approach will be to have a conversation with the parents, asking them to hand over the credentials for whatever account they set up in my gf's name. If that doesn't work, we'll speak to LifeLock about resetting password, etc. Thanks to everyone who contributed!
