So I've been canning beans for years because I can buy them bulk and cook up huge batches for significantly cheaper than store bought cans, then have the convenience of a small amount of beans ready to go when I need them. After a costly fiasco canning tomato sauce with store bought tomatoes several years ago though, I have never been keen on canning anything else besides beans (the sauce turned out fine, but was significantly, ridiculously more expensive than store bought sauce and a pain to make!).

I'm looking for new ways to save now and feel ready to expand my canning repertoire beyond just beans. Also looking for more convenience of "ready made" (I cook so much from scratch) and being able to have some out of season produce. I have a pressure canner and a ton of jars/lids already. I also have a suitable pot for water bath canning, though I have only ever really pressure canned since you can't waterbath can beans! Some things I'm interested in exploring are baking mixes (I think I'd need a vacuum sealer for that) and what kind of produce is actually less expensive to buy on sale/in season and can yourself. Maybe a bit of jelly making too, if it's actually cheaper to make at home. Not really sure where to start in my research of figuring our what is actually a better deal to can myself?
