I have health insurance through the ACA. I went to the dermatologist a while back to have a wart removed. My health insurnace paid some of the visit I paid the rest as is tradition.
Today I got a bill from a separate diagnostics company who apparently were sent a sample of, I guess (?), the wart, and now they want me to pay $300+, more than I paid the dermatologist. At the top it explains: "Your physician chose us to diagnose and interpret the tissue removed at the time of your recent visit."
It's been a couple of months since I went in but I don't remember anything about this. The whole thing was super standard: "hey doc, what's this a wart?" "yeah that's a wart want me to take it off?" "yeah that'd be neat." Why the hell was it sent to a diagnostics company?
Do I have any recourse here? Any way to lower the bill? I can pay for it but I'm just frustrated.
