So I'm going to Milwaukee soon. I mite stay there I like the city. The lake is absolutely beutiful and a blast. I am terribly frugal though and like saving money.
I found a condo for like 30k. Looks ok. Looked up crime maps there was a ton of minor crime most of it a few blocks away.
My sweetheart would move in probably within the year she doesn't live in the best neighborhood eather I hear gunshots every month to every other month. We are on skype every night. It does freak me out a bit when I do hear them.
The condo isn't actually that far from her and is closer to her work. So that's a plus. We could buy it with cash and still have 5 figures in our investments. It would allow us to keep up our momentum and lower our expenses extremely to save and invest untill we hit millionaire status and could just live on dividends.
My thing is while she has lived in bad neighborhoods.
I have not. I grew up in suburbia with an upper middle class family. So to be honest I am terrified. But not as terrified as not hitting our savings and investment goals. I really want to take the chance but I also want to test the waters. I don't care about schools and all that bull crap I just don't want to be shot.
I grew up being conditioned that I'd be shot just for being white in those bad neighborhoods. And to be honest it is really really hard to get out of that. And I am trying.
The other think I am also pretty scared of is my sweetheart is a really pretty tiny Asian lady. To top it off I have anxiaty disorder lol.
My sweetheart says we would.be fine just don't bug anyone and mind your own business. And don't be out at night. And we are golden.
Is it really that simple?
I really just want to make sure we can continue to get ahead. And idk really what to do.
So I figured it would be best to ask you
[If I bought the condo we would be there perminantly once we hit millionaire status we would start saving through working and investment income to build a home in a good area. Probably a 15 year plan]
