I'm planning on painting some builder grade oak cabinets from 2004. They are in great shape, they just need to be updated. They are coated with a clear coat (probably polyurethane). Should I sand the cabinets down to remove some/most/all of the clear coat? Should I use a primer over the top? Or just use a good quality latex paint?
