So I'm looking for the holy grail apparently.I'm in Québec, Canada and code requires that furring strips (1x3) be installed on top of studs before installing drywall. The furring strips are usually at a 90deg angle to the studs... but not always...I have a cheap stud finder that beeps when it sees the furring strip but doesn't seem to detect the actual stud that is behind. From the outside. my walls are like this :Outside Covering | 2in Styrofoam | 2x6 studs with insulation | vapor barrier | 1x3 furring strip | drywall. It was recommended to me to use the "Magnet" method to detect studs but since the drywall is screwed to the furring.. that doesn't work. via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2mXFAfI
