I am disabled and last year I moved in with my long term boyfriend. Due to his income being over £20,000 I lost all my benefit payments and he is expected to support me which he does.
We are finding money a problem though. I am trying to cut my expenses as much as possible so I no longer have audible, I no longer buy any books or new clothes. I cut my own hair, do my own beauty treatments, use a mooncup, take my own water with me if I go out, cook from scratch etc. I borrow books from the library rather than buy. My main expenses are some skincare items I usually request as gifts now for birthday and christmas, some supplements I use to help with my health issues (I use the cheapest I can find) and some travel and social expenses £500 a year approx.
I am struggling to see where else I can cut costs. Our food bill is high even though I only cook fresh and mostly veggie. My partner buys beer most weeks and crisps but its not more than about £10 - £15 a month, he isn't willing to cut them out or his sports tv package which is fair enough, he is also reluctent to swap to a packed lunch as he says it doesn't really save any money, I am working on him over this. Our Mortgage is also about £350. We rarely go out or on holiday.
My long term plan is to make money selling my work online but I would like to reduce costs further if possible.
Any creative tips on how to save money when your outgoings are already lowish?
