Hey /r/DIY,So. In my living room I have this rather hideous looking built in fireplace (http://ift.tt/2hONsub).I plan on rennovating the whole room, turn that wall into a feature wall with a new colour and maybe wallpaper on the alcove wall either side of the chimney breast; get a nice rug and such.My question, however, is what can I do with this fireplace? The house is private rented so I cannot tear it out but I have filled it in myself to stop a draft and have temporarily put a stereosystem in place.Ideally I'd like it to be what all furniture face and have a TV mounted on it but I feel the eyesore that is the frame and stonework of the fireplace would ruin that unless I paint the wall grey.Any suggestions?Cheers, Karner via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2xNO2i5
