It occurs to me that every time I use my toilet, I also wash my hands, and when washing my hands, I use hot water. But, in order to get hot water, I must wait for three or four gallons of cold water go down the drain before the hot water comes through the pipes.
Am I being frugal or am I being insane, because I want to somehow divert this wasted cold water into my toilet cistern before I flush it?
Is this a thing? Do people do this? And how?
