I was looking into my finances and saw an opportunity but I am unsure wether I should take it. Let me explain.
In the netherlands we have a system for college students where we can lend money from the government for a currently 0% fee (can change every 5 years) , with a maximum little over 1000 euro's. I am currently lending 600 per month so I could put 400 euro's per month aside without paying anything for it. When I am done with college I have 5 years without payment and after those years the payment is dependend on salary and is smeared out over up to 35 years.
Besides the 600 I lend my parents monthly give me and extra 500 so I can cover all of my costs. The 600 euro's a month will accumulate to a total of 36000 euro's if I don't have any study delays. But watching the current situation I'm guessing I will have a bit of a delay.
A year ago I loaned out my savings which was around 27000 euro's and will gain interest for 4 more years up to around 35000 euro's which then will be mine and free to use.
To conclude I can set money aside which I can loan for free. When I'm done with my study I will have some back up cash anyway so It wouldn't really be necassery but could come in usefull.
