Because Sallie Mae will not throw confetti for us, we need to find a way to celebrate - we just paid off the last of my husband's student loans!!
I paid off my $35,000 (incl interest) in student loans back when I was single and 27 in 2012. We paid off his $23,000 (incl interest) just a week before his 30th birthday! We adopted Dave Ramsey's baby steps plan last January and threw all of our extra money at our debts. We paid off $17,000 in various debts, cash flowed my maternity leave and medical bills, and suffered a job loss. We have been tempted so many tImes to stop, but with discipline and persistence, we stayed the course. We are now both gainfully employed and earning good money.
Lastly, onto his car, which we should have paid off by next April.
