Hi everyone,

I will be moving from Central Pennsylvania to Philadelphia this September and wanted to see if anyone had any advice on how I can start preparing for the move.

I know that I will have to spend much more living Philly (rent and utilities will likely be $600-$800 more and I will have to spend $400+ a month on commuting between Philadelphia and Central PA for work) so I plan to live like a pauper the next six months and really practice a "needs vs. wants" spending philosophy.

I know the basic neighborhoods where I want to live, but won't really know apartment availabilities and prices until current tenants start giving 30 and 60 day notices later this spring or early summer.

Does anyone have any tips or suggestions on what I can do between now and then to prepare for the move financial and otherwise. Even small, practical tips like starting to gather boxes for the move would be appreciated.

Thanks so much.
