Insurance companies, utility companies, payroll companies, and lots of other companies that have security deposits you paid them, or money that was yours from a paycheck, are required to report any unclaimed cash to the state's treasurer.
Every state has a website to check to see if you are owed any money. Check every state you have lived in!
