My GI bill wouldn't pay for my full second semester in college at the Culinary Institute of America, Hyde Park NY. (I'm only eligible for 90% of it. Honorably separated 2/3rds way through contract). I tried looking at loans (and was denied) and I tried looking at scholarships and other such things. I was back and forth with my financial adviser for a solid 2 weeks. And with the VA for a few days.
Long story short, I'm short 8 grand for the second semester and my options went down to "start the semester and get kicked out because I can't pay or go home."
I cancelled all my classes, but haven't quite left yet, my check out day is Thursday. My original idea was to go home to Virginia, get a job and apply to a cheaper community college nearby. Then I could move out once the GI Bill came in and I got Basic Allowance for Housing.
My parents have informed me that while I was gone (since we didn't see this happening) she rented out my room to my aunt who is waiting for her house to get built and will be there until late August. It's just not a good time for me to come home without severely inconveniening everyone. They said I can stay for the holidays but I gotta figure out other plans.
I called around and the only person willing to give me a place to stay is a friend in DC. But I can only stay until mid January
-
Because she doesn't want a squatter and
-
Because she's getting deployed mid January. (navy reserve.)
So I have until mid January to find a job and a place to stay (probably in DC) or I'll be living out of my car. I don't know if this is the right place to ask, but can anyone give me some advice?
