Hello All,

I have a question regarding optional life insurance. I was diagnosed with cancer a few weeks ago. I've been carrying optional term life insurance through my employer that is laying me off. Employment separation date is at the beginning of September. It appears there is an option to continue with life insurance by yourself outside of the group coverage provided by the employer, after separation. The life insurance provider is MetLife. I need to continue to carry life insurance for the benefit of my spouse and my children in case something happens to me. I'm not very familiar with how all of this works. All I know is that my rates will likely increase to carry life insurance as an individual rather than part of the employer group. What other nuances should I look out for and consider? Will metlife require to convert to a different policy? I'd appreciate any help and guidance on how to handle this correctly.
