I won't get too much into the details as it's not directly relevant to this question, but total comp package, across the board, my wife has only received a single $1,500 raise in the last 12 years. We're in a smallish southern county of around 55,000 population. She's assistant director of operations, and has been in this role for 12 years. She's been employed for 18 years.
Over the last 6 months, as job duties keep piling up, she started negotiating her job position for an increase in total comp. There is still more negotiating to be done, however, in the proposed Employment Agreement, this clause is listed:
a. Employee’s performance of her duties hereunder will be reviewed by Employer annually, and Employee’s base annual salary will be reviewed during those performance reviews.
My concern with this clause, is this will put us in the same situation we're in now - we have no teeth to request any additional compensation down the road.
Is it out of the question to request some sort of minimum salary increase (either yearly or every two years) that sets an minimum salary increase that may line up with a percentage no lower than 2% year over year, or something of that matter.
Has anyone added this inside a recent agreement or review?
