Is there a convention or festival that you wish to attend, but don't wish to break the bank doing so?
Check to see if they are accepting volunteers! Many conventions are more than happy to take on volunteers in exchange for some perks like free food, merch, and free admission! Some conventions I volunteered for would even offer a free hotel room for the duration of the event. Though the number of perks you receive can depend on what you're volunteering for and for how many hours, so YMMV.
Not to mention any volunteer service you contribute can look good on a resume!
