Pixel 4a 5g or iPhone 11?
Check my post history for the version of this I posted onto the Smartphones sub if you must, but this is the r/Frugal version. I know it was a bad move on my part to jump the gun on purchasing an iPhone, but I wanted it as a birthday gift to myself and so I can take better videos of me performing and with family.
Essentially, a point that was brought up a lot is the phone's resale values in a few years. Yes, if I sell the iPhone now, I'll get more money back in return, but my Pixel phone's value will drop more rapidly in the course of a year. If I sell the Pixel phone and keep the iPhone, at least the iPhone retains its value and it's relatively easier to sell and get more of that money back. The iPhone seems like it'll serve me more years but I have a fear that it'll break or get stolen before the 5-year mark, things I didn't have to worry about using my Pixel and the Android phones I've had before it.
Other factors to consider: - I've been an Android user for nearly 10 years now, but I'm really liking the look and feel of the iPhone. It does feel like an expensive toy at times. - I'm more used to Android and its shortcuts, and Google Assistant and Android notifs are miles better than the iPhone's counterparts. - iPhone does take nice videos, and I mean extremely nice, and it's why I got it in the first place, plus some FOMO :( I wish I could keep both but the iPhone seems like too much of a high-ticket item for what it can do
What do you suggest I do?
