My husband has not filled his taxes in about 5 years due to " not being able to pay back what he owes the IRS" each year. I have been filling married filling separately every year. Now my son is a senior in high school and qualifies for a $20,000 scholarship but the FAFSA has to be filled out. The FAFSA considers my husband the other parent.

My husband swears he will contact the IRS and get taxes filed and payment plan set up. Will this take care of the problem??

He probably only owes the IRS $4000 before the fees and interest. Yes I know..stupid.

*edit..he never received any of the stimulus payments. Would he be able to use that towards what he owes?
