I'm looking at places to rent and this landlord said I can move in now and sign a lease, but the lease won't take effect for another month. Until then we will do it "Airbnb style". The only explanation was "for documentation purposes". I will press on why they want this arrangement if we decide we really like the place, but I'd like to go in prepared. Is there a legitimate reason for doing this?
