Last year in April (2020) I was contacted via phone call, by a Credit Collector called Mountain Run Solutions. They not only called me but they called family members, my workplace, and even my ex-fiancé. Pretty much anyone related to me on public record. They identified the debt as "a collection attempt for Vivint Security", a company that I personally have never done business with.

For context: I purchased my home in 2013 from a local realty company that is no longer in business. The home was a model home and had been used as the realty office. It came with a pre-installed alarm system from Vivant Security. Now, I never personally gave Vivint my information so I'm assuming the realty company passed this on to them without my knowledge. I've read over contracts from the purchase of my home and nowhere does it mention the security system. I tried to contact the realty company and it was at this point that I figured out they were no longer in business. So I decided to try and get this fixed on my own.

I started by requesting a copy of my credit report to verify wether or not this was showing up on my credit report. It did, along with the information and mailing address for the collection agency. It says the account was opened with this agency in September 2019. I did TONS of research mainly on this sub to put together a letter basically stating, that I was not a customer of the collection agency nor Vivint Security. I also requested that they provide a copy of the written agreement or contracts that created my original requirement to pay, by the original creditor. I sent this letter as certified mail to the mailing address listed for the collection agency on my credit report on May 7, 2020. On May 17, 2020 I received the letter back with a yellow sticker "Return To Sender Insufficient Address"

I wanted to only communicate with the collection agency via mail so that I had everything in writing, however, at this point I had no option but to call back the person that originally contacted me. When I spoke with them during the initial contact, the agent gave me his name and phone number. I attempted to reach out to him with the number he provided to me and to my surprise, it was no longer a working number. Keep in mind this was still less than 30 days since he originally contacted me.

Since then, I have tried to dispute this on TransUnion and was unsuccessful. I disputed it in July 2020, it disappeared from credit report for about 2 months and then reappeared with the SAME information for Mountain Run Solutions. For shits and giggles, I tried to call again and it was still not a working number.

I'm stuck now and I don't know where to go from here. TransUnion website gives me the option to dispute again but I'm not sure if I should go that route to only have it reappear on my credit. I thought of using a different reason that they provide on their website to dispute it but I don't know what else I could use to describe the situation.

TLDR; I am unable to get in contact with a credit collection agency that is stating I owe money to the original creditor for a debt I never signed an agreement for. I tried disputing through TransUnion and it disappeared for about 2 months and then reappeared with the same collection agency listed.

I would appreciate any and all help from the wonderful people of r/personalfinance. You all have helped me many times in the past and I am truly grateful for you!
