I am new to this subreddit, only finding it a few days ago and the message that it has really resonated with me. My goal in life has always been simple living, although I never had a name for it. I have been a minimalist for years in terms of material goods, finding peace in owning less, but I have been stuck in the unhealthy work ethic mentality of giving my time and energy to my job and feeling guilty when I do not.

I reflect on my teenage years and early 20's and can't think of many memories that stand out except for milestones at jobs (i did not go to college, i started working full time right after graduating), and a few times with friends. I feel that I have wasted a lot of my limited free time because I feel tired and need to rest or be alone after my work week. I am ready to focus more on my life and less on my job as my job doesn't bring me my happiness (although I am lucky to be content with the work that I do so I do not feel miserable there either). But I worry about living for the weekend and not spending my week days when I am not at work well or with purpose.

What ways do you spend your time before/after work that make you happy and do not make you feel like your day was given to your job?
