So on June 4th I had some repairmen out to work on fixing my refrigerator. During their initial checks, they were following the water line to shut it off under the sink, so do some initial work, but ended up breaking the line leading to the sink. For a bit over 10 minutes, water proceeded to fill up my kitchen, going under my walls into my garage and into my dining room. Long story short, we had a clean up company out here with drying fans for a week. The cabinets are warped, I'm sure there's damage to the drywall, base boards had to be removed. We got the original estimates from the cleanup company on what would have to be done, and they're coming to about $12000 in damage and work to restore everything. This includes replacing the cabinetry top and bottom, as we won't be able to match, replacing drywall, redoing piping after replacing drywall. On June 11th, the insurance adjuster that represents the repair company I had called out came to look over everything, and they were mentioning they would have to go into "a number of factors." The age of the home, depreciation on the cabinets, how TRULY damaged my walls are. I'm aware they're going to nickel and dime me for everything that they can, I'm thinking I should probably put in a claim with my HOI as well, but I was hoping to get more information on what other methods I should proceed forward with. I've already been getting individual quotes for cabinets, and for the counter tops but wasn't sure how else to really proceed.
