I work a fairly high paying job. My wife works as a vet tech and the wages are atrocious for the work they do... but she likes her job. The problem is we haves a 2 year old. She is working full time and he is in daycare full time. It works out after taxes etc that she is effectively paying to go to work.
Normally this is ok, she enjoys it, he gets socializing skills and seems to enjoy daycare. However, he has been sick lately, which means he can’t go to daycare (but we still pay ~$400/week) and one of us has to stay home. When she stays home she doesn’t get paid, which means a week off costs us over $800.
We try and share the time off, but I have just started a new position and can’t take extended amounts of time off.
I was wandering if anyone else has gone through this and what they did. If I should post this somewhere else please let me know
