I got a nissan versa through Hertz sales in '16 and it was rear ended in '17 and it was a total loss. In '17 we got a Nissan Sentra from Hertz and this year it's transmission is crapping out. We owe 8000 on it and it's price is close to 4500 if we sold it. It's going to cost 3-4 grand to fix. Wife and I don't know what to do. We tried to find a cheap mechanic and the cheapest we've found is 2800 through a friend. We don't have the money and we're considering talking with AAA about considering it another total loss. Would that be an option and how would it affect her credit? Nissan's transmissions have been known to have defects and sadly we are passed the extended warranty they gave out a few years back. Thoughts?
