After some discussion we decided that having one car was a necessary sacrifice to save money. She hasn't worked since the pandemic started and plans to be a stay at home mom until our kids are in school.
Some details: it's a Chevy Trax that she bought when we were just starting to date. She traded in her old car and was INSANELY upside down on it. That plus a terrible interest rate = $622/mo for a car worth ~$250/mo.once she started staying home it sat for 6 days a week and we would drive it once or twice a week just to use it. Not worth it.
We got $7500 for it and owed $10,700. We paid $3200 out of pocket for the difference. In my mind I spent $3200 and saves $7500.
She will drive my car primarily and take me to work/pick me up. It's a sacrifice, but I wholeheartedly think it's worth it.
