Hi! I recently got engaged and have since discovered just how expensive weddings are. My fiancé and I are planning on a long engagement, to give us time to save and to start renting a house together.
I’ve done some maths and figured that I can save about £400 a month, max. Meaning over a year I would have saved £4,800. Lots of the venues I’ve seen charge around double this with the food included and then I’ll still need to save for all of the rest of the costs. Obviously my fiancé will be saving too but he has much higher outgoings than me so I think our total savings will be around £4-600 a month at the very most.
I’m hoping for some advice on what kind of savings account I should use (there will definitely be 2-3 years before the wedding, perhaps more, but I will need to use the money before that time for deposits) because I can’t really get my head around the options.
Also if anyone has any ideas of how I could earn some extra money on the side I’d love to hear them. Most of what I’ve seen looks like MLM and scams and I don’t want to get involved in anything like that!
Thank you for reading!
