Somber post on this Saturday morning, but hoping the Reddit community can offer some words of wisdom. My in-laws house burned down last night. Their family was away from the house at the time (thankfully) and are all physically fine. The house, however, was a complete and total loss. Nothing salvageable but the clothes on their backs. They have plenty of support from family and friends and will be fine in time. I’m hopeful that anyone who has experienced something similar can offer some words of wisdom in hindsight on things they wish they had done in the hours/days/weeks following. Anything is helpful as everyone is very much still in shock and pretty uncertain on what to do next. Insurance companies have been notified and all the immediate steps that we can come up with have been taken care of as best we can for now. Thanks in advance for any info/advice.
