I bought a house in 2015 which was 10 years old.

After about a year, the double pan windows started accumulating moisture and the latch mechanism started failing. It would have cost me $400 in parts and another $200 in labor. Contacted the manufacturer and they said I am still covered under warranty and they even sent a guy to replace all of it, all for free.

Also since last few months, all the faucets and taps around the house started leaking gradually. I have been putting this off for a long time. Looked at Home Depot for parts which would cost me $170. Called Delta and they said they have lifetime warranty on their parts. Even though leaks are not covered under lifetime warranty, they would still send me free parts as a courtesy ($170 and free shipping). The entire phone call lasted 4 mins and I didnt even have to ask for free parts, they just expect to give it out to you.

So before going to home depot, try calling your manufacturer's support first.
