I don't post on Reddit much and I'm not sure if this is the right place for this, but I'm just trying to figure out if this happened to anyone else. So my current Dental Insurances is Humana and I have had it since 2014. I was going to a different dental clinic back then, but they never had any issue submitting claims to Humana and I never had any outstanding debt. I also always check with the receptionist is I owe anything before leaving the office anytime I go in. If I do I pay and if they're still waiting for a claim to come back then they let me know.

Well today I went in to pay at my current Dental clinic(old one went out of business) to pay $83 I owed for a filling. When I hand the receptionist my card she said, "You have a balance of $521." I was stunned and taken aback. She explained, "You owe for 4 fillings that weren't covered, 2 in 2016 and 2 in 2017." It's 2019 and no time all these year and yes I have paid them for procedures here and there over the years, but they never once brought up any outstanding balances when I did pay from those time periods. I more mad at the fact I'm getting slammed from outstanding balances I didn't even know I had.

Had I know about them I would've always paid anything that was due at the time. The dental clinic told me, "We just finally got the rest of the claims back it took a couple of years." Years? I'm sorry, but I've never had this much of an issue and never once received a bill for these filling back than. Of course both the Dental clinic and Insurance company says its there fault. I'm going to of course pay it, but I'm just annoyed about this overall. If I know I had outstanding fees from that long ago over two years or more I could've had it paid off by now. I'm just seeing if anyone had something like this happen to them?
