Hello, BIFL friends. I've seen lots of posts about boots, but I've searched the archives here and in the different shoe/boot subreddits and not quite found what I'm looking for - which is women's tall boots (calf-high) without laces. I'm looking for a riding boot-style, but not a literal riding boot. I'm looking for something with a grippy sole with good traction, quality leather, and if it has a zipper, one that either won't crap out on me or can be regularly replaced or repaired without tossing the entire boot. They have to be nice enough that I can wear them all day at work (academia) and tall and sturdy enough for upstate NY winters.
I can find lots of boots in this style at Payless or Target or DSW for $100 or less, but they only last 2-3 winters, at most. Lots of the quality shoe companies don't make the tall boot (some good options for ankle-high boots though). I've found one option from Redwing Heritage (the Marion) and one from SAS Shoes (the Dutchess) both around $400 (which is okay, if I'm buying it once). Here are my questions: 1) are those two my only options? and 2) if they are does anybody own them and how did they hold up? Thanks, friends.
